Wyn grew up in Vietnam, and after considering international study options, headed to England to study for her GCSEs. Upon finishing her studies, she was drawn to Wales by the strong academics and balanced student lifestyle on offer.
Now she’s studying for her A-levels in Maths, Economics, and Business at Cardiff and Vale College. She loves living in the city, surrounded by friends and close to all the academic support.
What I’ve enjoyed most about studying in Wales is the sense of balance. I’m able to focus on my education while still enjoying student life.
'After completing my GCSEs in England, I had the opportunity to continue my education in different parts of the UK. Choosing where to study next was an important decision for me, and I decided on Wales because I was looking for a balance between strong academic support and a better quality of student life.
I chose to study A-level Maths, Economics, and Business at Cardiff and Vale College because of its supportive learning environment and modern facilities, and I was impressed by how big and professional the college is. Compared to my previous experience of studying abroad, my transition to study in Wales was much smoother than I expected. The teaching style encourages independence while still offering plenty of guidance, which helps me stay motivated and confident. The teachers are kind and genuinely invested in students’ progress, which has made a big difference in my academic experience.
As an international student, I found it easy to settle in the city because it is modern, places are easy to navigate, and the friendliness of the locals helped me feel comfortable very quickly. My student accommodation is secure and convenient. Everything I need, from the college campus to places to eat and hang out, is within walking distance.
What I’ve enjoyed most about studying in Wales is the sense of balance. I’m able to focus on my education while still enjoying student life. I value spending time with friends, exploring the city center, and relaxing after a busy day; moments like these have helped me feel more connected and supported while studying away from home.
Overall, continuing my studies in Wales has been the right choice for me. It has allowed me to grow personally and academically, while also enjoying a welcoming and supportive environment. Cardiff now feels like a second home, and I’m grateful for the opportunities and experiences I’ve gained so far.'
