Hilary Nguyen - Chevening Scholar

I’m Hilary Nguyen from Viet Nam and I’m currently studying a Taught Postgraduate programme, M.A Communications, Media Practice and Public Relations at Swansea University on a Global Wales Chevening scholarship. I chose to study in Wales as I did a lot of research about the excellence of the course and this perfectly aligns with my career goals.  I’m very impressed with the professors, modern study equipment and interesting extra-curriculum activities at the University. I love living in Wales because of the beautiful nature, extremely friendly people, green technologies and the affordable cost- living here.

I’m in Wales studying for a Masters Degree at Cardiff University on a Global Wales Chevening scholarship. I’m majoring in International Public Relations and Global Communication.  Before coming to Wales, I worked for three years in local and international non-governmental organisations specialising in Communication and Corporate Relation.  I think Cardiff University is a dream for everyone studying the major I am doing.  Wales is a lovely land with beautiful mountains, valleys, and seas. Other reasons are my birthday is on St. David's Day, and my 'astrology' flower is Daffodils. I think it is my destiny to be here!

Forrest - Global Wales Scholar

Since childhood, I avidly devoured historic texts, legends and the mythology of the Celts.  As a Global Wales Postgraduate scholar at Bangor University, the opportunity to study a master's offered me a perfect location as a mature student interested in history, archaeology, and Celtic studies. I am excited about the skills I will attain, the locations I can explore, and the opportunities to link with historical organisations.

I have been inspired by many Welsh poets and novelists, as well as Wales' turbulent coal history and successful sustainable present. Their willpower motivated me to work towards this project under the mentorship of Bangor University's astonishing creative writing staff. The program offers students the ability and time to mould their experience to tailor to their own desires, goals, and needs.  It allows each writer to experiment and push themselves with the guidance of an instructor but with no limits, judgements or constraints.  The community we have built, even online, has challenged me as a writer and editor and pushed me towards the person I hope to become.
