The Global Wales Postgraduate Scholarship Programme is funded by Global Wales and offered in partnership with all universities in Wales. The scholarship programme offers each worth up to £10,000, towards the annual international tuition fees of successful applicants.
1. HOW DO I APPLY?
You should complete the application form. Applications for 2024 are now open.
2. DO I NEED TO APPLY TO A WELSH UNIVERSITY BEFOREHAND?
Yes, you will need to have submitted an application to study to your university before your scholarship application can be considered.
You will need to include your University application number with your scholarship application. Applications submitted with invalid application numbers will not be considered.
There is a limit of a maximum of three applications per student, and students will need to have applied for all the courses and universities that they are seeking a scholarship for.
3. WHAT LEVEL OF STUDY ARE THE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR?
Scholarships are available for one year of a postgraduate Masters course at

- Bangor University
- Cardiff University
- Cardiff Metropolitan University
- Swansea University
- University of South Wales
- University of Trinity Saint David
- Wrexham University
Please note, the Global Wales Scholarships are not available for students of the Open University in Wales.
4. ARE THE SCHOLARSHIPS LIMITED TO SPECIFIC COUNTRIES?
Yes, Global Wales Scholarships are only available to citizens of:

5. I COME FROM A COUNTRY NOT MENTIONED ABOVE, CAN I STILL APPLY?
Unfortunately, the Global Wales scholarships are only available to citizens of the countries listed above.
6. WHAT DOES ‘CITIZEN’ MEAN?
A citizen is someone who is legally recognised and accepted as belonging to a particular country, either by birth or naturalisation
7. CAN I APPLY FOR A GLOBAL WALES SCHOLARSHIP AT ANOTHER UK INSTITUTION?
No, the Global Wales Postgraduate Scholarships are only available to students who wish to study at a University in Wales.
8. WHAT DOES THE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD COVER?
The scheme offers awards of up to £10,000, towards the cost of tuition fees for one year of a postgraduate masters course at any of Wales’ universities.
9. WHAT ABOUT THE REMAINDER OF THE TUITION FEE COST AND OTHER LIVING EXPENSES?
Any additional costs and expenses are the responsibility of the student.
10. CAN I STUDY PART TIME?
Unfortunately the Global Wales Postgraduate Scholarships are not open to those studying part time.
11. CAN I STUDY BY DISTANCE LEARNING?
To be eligible for a scholarship, you must be intending to study full time on campus in Wales. In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic, where local government restrictions mean that you are unable to travel to Wales, you may in some cases be able to begin your studies online, before arriving on campus when you are able
12. DO I NEED TO SUPPLY ANY OTHER DOCUMENTATION WITH MY APPLICATION?
No, but your chosen Welsh university may refer to your academic application to study when reviewing your scholarship application.
13. I HAVE BEEN AWARDED A SCHOLARSHIP FROM MY UNIVERSITY AND/OR OTHER SOURCE, CAN I ALSO APPLY FOR THE GLOBAL WALES SCHOLARSHIP?
Yes, but it would be at the discretion of the university whether you would be awarded more than one scholarship. Please make sure you check the terms and conditions of your chosen University before you submit your scholarship application.
14. THE COURSE I AM TAKING LASTS FOR MORE THAN 1 YEAR - WOULD I GET THE SCHOLARSHIP FOR BOTH YEARS?
No, the scholarship is for one year only.
15. I AM CURRENTLY STUDYING AT A WELSH UNIVERSITY. CAN I APPLY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP?
Yes, if you are from one of the countries listed above and you have an offer to start an eligible postgraduate programme at a Welsh University during 2024/25 you are very welcome to apply for a Global Wales Scholarship.
16. IS THERE A CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS?
Applications for September 2024 entry will close at 23:45 GMT on Tuesday 30th April 2024.
17. WHEN WILL I BE INFORMED OF THE DECISION?
Successful applicants will be informed by email after the deadline has passed.
